Gong Forecast
Gong Forecast is the forecasting and pipeline inspection module within the broader Gong Revenue Intelligence suite. It stands out by combining traditional pipeline analytics with conversation signals: deal risk scores incorporate whether the economic buyer has been engaged, whether pricing was discussed, and whether next steps were confirmed on the most recent call. If you already use Gong for conversation intelligence, Gong Forecast is a natural extension.
Official site ↗Why it ranks here
- Gong Forecast is the only forecasting tool that natively incorporates conversation data. Deal risk scores factor in engagement signals (buyer participation, sentiment, topic coverage) that other platforms cannot see.
- If you already license Gong for call recording and analysis, adding Gong Forecast is cheaper and simpler than integrating a separate forecasting platform.
- The unified data model means sales managers see conversation insights, deal progression, and forecast submissions in one interface, reducing context switching.
Where it sits
- Gong Forecast wins if you already have Gong for conversation intelligence and want to extend that investment into forecasting. The conversation-driven deal scoring is unique.
- It loses if you do not use Gong for call recording. Buying Gong just for forecasting is expensive compared to BoostUp or standalone tools.
- Clari and BoostUp offer more mature forecasting workflows (version control, scenario planning, multi-quarter visibility). Gong Forecast is strong but not as deep as the category leaders in pure forecasting mechanics.
How GTM Operations teams use it
- RevOps configures forecast categories and submission cadences in Gong, then maps Salesforce opportunity stages to forecast categories.
- Managers inspect deals in Gong Forecast and see conversation-driven risk scores: if a deal is forecasted to close but the economic buyer has not been engaged, Gong flags it.
- Forecast calls happen in Gong, with reps submitting their numbers and managers drilling into specific deals to review call snippets and engagement metrics.
- RevOps uses the conversation analytics dashboard to identify patterns (deals that close typically have 3+ multi-threaded calls, deals that slip often lack pricing discussions) and bake those into sales plays.
In-depth notes
- Gong Forecast is not sold separately. You must license the full Gong Revenue Intelligence platform, which includes conversation intelligence, forecasting, and deal intelligence. Pricing is per-user annual subscription.
- Gong writes conversation metadata (engagement score, buyer participation, sentiment) to Salesforce custom fields. RevOps must create those fields and manage sync.
- Conversation-driven deal scoring requires call recording adoption. If only 50% of your sales team records calls, deal risk scores will be incomplete.
- Gong Forecast does not support complex multi-level rollups as deeply as Clari. It works well for orgs with 2-3 forecast levels but struggles with 5+ level hierarchies.
- The product is evolving quickly. Gong is investing heavily in forecasting to compete with Clari, so expect frequent feature releases.
Best for
Sales orgs that already use Gong for conversation intelligence and want forecasting that incorporates call data and engagement signals.
Avoid if
You do not record sales calls, or you need deep multi-level forecast rollups and scenario planning that exceed Gong Forecast current capabilities.

Learning guide
Setup
Enable Gong Forecast in the Gong admin console, map Salesforce opportunity stages to forecast categories, and configure submission cadences. Gong automatically syncs conversation metadata (engagement scores, buyer participation) to enrich deal risk scoring.
First thing to build
Run your first forecast call in Gong Forecast and use the conversation-driven deal risk scores to identify forecasted deals where the economic buyer has not been engaged or pricing has not been discussed.
What actually matters
- Map Salesforce stages to Gong forecast categories (commit, best case, pipeline) and define submission rules for each category.
- Configure conversation metadata sync to Salesforce so deal risk scores incorporate engagement signals (buyer participation rate, sentiment, topic coverage).
- Set deal risk thresholds to flag opportunities that are forecasted to close but lack key conversation milestones (pricing discussion, multi-threading, next steps confirmed).
- Enable call snippet integration in forecast inspection views so managers can drill into specific deals and review call recordings directly.
Watch out
Conversation-driven deal scoring only works if your reps consistently record calls. If call recording adoption is below 75 percent, deal risk scores will be incomplete and managers will lose trust in the system.
